11-10-2009 The Atlanta Journal-Constitution released a story today supporting rumors that have been circulating recently about a potential National Pro Fastpitch team in Atlanta. The story reports that a new investor has signed a letter of intent to bring the Rockford Thunder to the Atlanta area. Rumors began last week through Twitter accounts and an unofficial blog site, that plans are in the works for an Altanta team to begin NPF competition in 2010, with the possible stadium being Kennesaw State University. The National Pro Fastpitch league has not released any information confirming the report. In response to The Softball Network's request for comment, League Commissioner, Cheri Kempf, provided the following quote; "There exists a Letter of Intent by Mr. Delashmit and his group with the current owner of the Rockford Thunder, Bob Lowe. Further, Mr. Delashmit has applied for territory rights from the league that include Atlanta. However, it is important to stress at this time that any sale of any team or territory requires league approval and qualification, and this is an ongoing process." The Rockford Thunder sealed their first NPF Championship in August, with the help of tournament MVP, and former Olympian, Cat Osterman. A week after winning the 2009 Championship, the Thunder announced that they would be selling the team, due to personal reasons.
